What’s going on, fellow entrepreneurs. Today I wanted to talk about the importance of updating your policies and procedures. And I was reminded of that because I was reading a new law that was passed in California called the CROWN Act.

And basically it’s an addition to FEHA protections. And it basically says that there are additional protections for natural hairstyles. And it specifically addresses things like braids, twists, and things like that.

So what got me thinking about the policies in relation to the CROWN Act is this seems like something that’s just common sense, that you shouldn’t be discriminating against people with certain natural hairstyles.

But California, in its wisdom, decided to make a law about it. And so when a new law comes into place, that usually triggers additional lawsuits.

So policies and procedures, handbooks, all of those things, they need to be updated regularly.

And they need to be updated regularly because of things like this, these laws that should be common sense, but for some reason, California decides to codify them.

Anyway, until next time, be productive.
