Below is a complete transcript of this video.

What’s happening fellow entrepreneurs. Today I wanted to talk about California, the laws that they’re putting into place that incentivize employers to look for other options besides employees.

So, I was listening to this politician, name Andrew Yang, and he’s running for president under the democratic ticket. And I don’t have an opinion on him personally, either way.

It’s just one of the things he’s pitching is universal wages, right?

And so he was talking about how automation is taking over and there’s just going to be a large percentage of the working population that will be out of work because they’ll be displaced by technology.

Now, whether that’s true or not, I can’t predict the future. But it got me thinking about California with its oppressive laws, making that happen quicker in California.

So besides companies leaving California in droves and besides to Texas by the way, which has a lower minimum wage.

Well, just more business friendly anyway, I won’t get into the Texas thing, yeah.

So besides the large companies moving to Texas, which has a better labor force. From a business perspective, you’ve got businesses that can’t leave California because they’re a services type of business that are automating.

So for example, in 2018 the McDonald’s corporation, their labor force in California was reduced by 17% because of automation. They basically started putting kiosks in that you can order and it …

Besides saving a ton of money in labor cost, it also prevents labor lawsuits and gets you around all these oppressive labor laws in California.

So it got me thinking, is California going to be one of the first places that has this issue? Is California going to be that place where there’s just going to be hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people displaced from doing work, simply because they’ve put these laws in place that force companies and business owners to find alternatives.

So besides service types of jobs, I mean from what I’ve read, accountants are probably going to be gone. Truck drivers essentially are not going to have any work once all of these trucks become automated.

Even lawyers, there’s tons of artificial intelligence types of things coming out that are displacing lawyers and paralegals. So I think it’s across most types of work.

When you think about what California does, and sure, they’re trying to protect workers, but they also don’t see the other side of it. It’s not a math problem. It’s not one plus one equals two. It’s an algebra problem. There’s a balance. You’ve got to balance both sides. California doesn’t do that and …

Well, think about like the, the Uber problem, right? So California has been trying to force Uber to have Uber drivers become employees. Well, why would Uber do that? I mean, it would cost them more money.

And on top of that, it takes away the freedom that Uber drivers have. Uber drivers are actors, are retirees or people that want to control their own schedule and now they won’t even be able to control their own schedule. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

So I don’t want to rant too much about this, but it just got me thinking and I thought I’d make a video about it.

Until next time be productive.
