How’s it going, fellow entrepreneurs? John Fagerholm again with Defend My Biz.

Today I want to talk about the new sexual harassment laws that were put into place several months. SB 1343 was signed by Governor Jerry Brown, and it basically considerably changes what the sexual harassment training is.

Previously, it used to be 50 or more employees, with two-hour training for the supervisors.

Now, by January 1, 2020, every employer with five employees or more must have provided one hour of sexual training for all the employees and two hours of sexual harassment training for supervisors.

The only reason I bring this is up is in the past, I had only done these types of training for very large companies, you know, 50 or more.

Now I’m starting to get calls from all of my clients, asking me about this. I’m not sure what I’m going to do about it, but still, everyone should know that this is required. It’s coming.

You’ve got less than a year to do it.

They haven’t set forth what the remedies are going to be yet if you don’t do it, but I’m sure it’ll be something.

Anyway, look out for it and make sure you get it done.

Thanks, everybody. Until next time.
